Zidane might leave Real at end of season with Low & Pochettino touted for the job (Marca)

The term 'meat grinder' is one of the most used expressions within the corridors of Real Madrid for the relentless demand for success, and Zinedine Zidane could become the latest victim of Florentino Perez's philosophy.

The former playmaker's side has endured a lacklustre run of late as the club currently trail rivals Barcelona by 19 points with their title-defence seemingly in tatters.

For a club with a short memory and zero patience, even a phenomenal record of two Champions League crowns and eight titles won in the previous two seasons may not be enough to save the 45-year-old from facing the sack.

And within the club, anyway, there seems to be an impression that, as each day passes, Zidane will not continue and will heading for the exit door at the end of the season.

It is believed that the Frenchman is fatigued and is struggling to cope with the excessive pressure that has been placed on him by the fans and the board to always win.

Given that he has already won all that there is to win, members in the club believe it will come as no surprise if Zidane chooses to walk out of the club.

In fact, he did so as a player back in 2006 when he chose to not see out the final year of his contract.

As such, the club are already putting measures in place in the event that he chooses to call it quits having enjoyed the club's second most successful managerial cycle in their history with German coach Joachim Low and Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino have been touted for the job.
