About 80 Cameroonian gendarmes cross border, invades Cross River State.

About 80 Cameroonian gendarmes late Monday night crossed the international border between Nigeria and Cameroon and invaded Danare, in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State. The gendarmes, according to sources, claimed that they were fighting Cameroon militants who took refuge in the community. There are well over 5,000 Cameroonian refugees seeking asylum in Danare 1 and 2 communities following the unrest in the southern part of Cameroon. Cameroonian gendarmes from Bodam community had, in October 2017, invaded Danare, killing two farmers. According to The PUNCH gendarmes from Cameroon had also, in December, abducted five persons from Danare on the claims that they were suspected youths involved in the fight for the creation of Ambazonia. When contacted, the Cross River State Security Adviser, Mr. Jude Ngaji said the matter was being handled at the highest level of government in the country. Nigerian Army officer stabbed to death and then set ablaze by her security guard and eight others in Edo

The police in Edo state have arrested the security guard of a Nigerian Army officer, Afisatu Ajuya, who connived with eight others to stab his boss to death, stole her properties and afterwards set her body on fire at her home on Ugiagbe stree, off First Ugbor road in Oredo local government area of Edo state on Saturday January 27th. According to reports, Ajuya who is reportedly a Major in the Army, had returned from a trip outside the state on the day of the incident and was received by her security guard who is a hausa man. The guard helped her to take her traveling bag into her house where she lived alone as her children are said to be residing abroad. The guard reportedly sneaked into the house later at night with his accomplices, stabbed her multiple times with metal objects and then began to move some of her properties. Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the semi final of the CHAN tournament in Morocco. After going behind in the 55th minute, the Eagles rallied to overpower the Angolan side 2-1 to extend their stay in Morocco. The Nigerian Army has raised concerns over plans by some fleeing members of Boko Haram terror group to attack churches, mosques, markets and other public places. This, the Army says, the terrorists plan to do by recruiting more suicide bombers to its fold to carry out the attacks. The Army is alerting the public to be vigilant and be on the lookout for Boko Haram escapees and report strange movements and suspicious persons in their communities, especially in places of worship, markets, weddings and any other gathering, to relevant security agencies within their localities. The Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Sani Usman, who made this known in a statement, called on communities to put security measures in place to prevent terrorists from invading their areas. Sultan Kosen, from Turkey, is the tallest man on earth according to the Guinness World Records, towering at a height of 8 feet 1 inch. Jyoti Amge, from India, by contrast holds the title for world’s shortest woman at just over 2 ft tall. The mismatched pair posed in front of the historic Giza Pyramids in Cairo, Egypt, Friday (today) after being invited by the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board. A Yoruba socio-cultural group, Agbekoya reformed society (ARS) has announced a three day Oro festival to be conducted all over Yorubaland. They said this was to cleanse the Yoruba territory from incursion of Fulani herdsmen and fish out any threat lurking within the Yorubaland. The group in a press statement issued weekend, signed by Aare Agbekoya, Chief Adekunle Oshodi, noted that the need to cleanse the land became necessary due to the violent behaviour of Fulani herdsmen. Oshodi declared that, “The Fulani came with their nomadic half, who traditionally reared cattle with sticks and staffs, and succeeded in permeating into local communities all over the federation, pre and post-independence. President Muhammadu Buhari says income accruing to the country from rising oil prices in the international market will be spent on the development of infrastructure. The President said this when he received a delegation from Eni, an oil company led by the Chief Upstream Officer, Mr Antonio Vella at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday. He said extra funds outside the provision of 2018 budget “will be deployed to infrastructure projects like roads, rail, and power for the good of our people, and for the development of the country.’’ Nigerian pilot recalls that the 2018 budget proposal was predicated on 45 dollars per barrel by the Executive, and the Senate adjusted it to 47 dollars per barrel. However, oil prices have presently risen to more than 70 dollars per barrel. Buhari also appreciated Eni for its upcoming investments in the oil industry, which included rehabilitation of Port Harcourt refinery, and the building of a new one? “In my first coming, all our refine
