Trump reportedly insults Nigerians, says they ‘never go back to their huts’ after seeing America
A report has emerged of how President Donald Trump of the United States insulted Nigerians alongside immigrants from other countries, while commenting on the rationale behind his controversial travel ban.
The claim was contained in a report by the New York Times.
In an Oval Office meeting in June, Trump was quoted in the report to have said that Nigerians refused to “go back to their huts” after experiencing America.
He was also quoted to have said immigrants from Haiti “all have AIDS”, while also describing Afghanistan as a “haven of terrorists.”
“More than 2,500 were from Afghanistan, a terrorist haven, the president complained.
“Haiti had sent 15,000 people. They all have AIDS.
“Forty thousand had come from Nigeria, Mr. Trump added. Once they had seen the United States, they would never ‘go back to their huts’ in Africa”, officials in the meeting reportedly told the New York Times.
The White House has reportedly confirmed the meeting, but denied that Trump used the words “AIDS” or “huts” in referring to immigrants.
