Buhari meets governors in Aso Rock, shakes hands with Fayose (photos)
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, February 22, met and exchanged pleasantries with one of his ardent critics in Aso Rock
- Buhari shook hands with Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state who has been a major critic of the current administration
- The president also shook hands with ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state
Ahead of the National Council of State meeting at the State House on Thursday, February 22, President Muhammadu Buhari met with governors and former president Olusegun Obasanjo who recently criticised the present administration and advised Buhari not to seek re-election.
The president exchanged pleasantries with one of his ardent critics, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state, with whom he shook hands.
Others with whom the president shook hands with was ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state.
MMB gathered that the former military heads of state Yakubu Gowon General Abdusalam Abubakar, were also at the villa for the meeting.
The meeting was summoned by President Buhari to deliberate on key national issues.
It was learnt that the meeting would consider the appointment of national commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), among other issues.

Meanwhile, MMB previously reported President Muhammadu Buhari was scheduled to preside over a meeting of the Council of State on Thursday, February 22, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The council which has all living former presidents and heads of government as members is the third President Buhari would be hosting since he came into power in 2015.
Those expected at the meeting include former presidents Shehu Shagari, Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.
Others expected to be in attendance include former military heads of state, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd.), General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd.), General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd.), as well as the former chairman of the defunct interim national government, Chief Ernest Shonekan.
