Fayose speaks on ‘regretting’ all he said about Buhari

The Ekiti State governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has reacted to report quoting him as saying ”he regrets everything he said about President Muhammadu Buhari”. This is coming at a time when Fayose shook hands with Buhari at the the Council of State meeting on Thursday. Fayose described such report credited to him as untrue, adding that it is the handiwork of his detractors. According to him, he stands by everything he said about the Buhari led administration. Fayose in a tweet wrote, ”Disregard statement quoting me as saying that “I regretted everything that I said about President Buhari.” ”I did not make such statement. It is the handiwork of haters of the truth. ”I stand by everything that I have said concerning the President and his govt.”

FG issues 2-week ultimatum to Niger Delta communities on Bodo-Bonny project

The federal government has issued a two-week ultimatum to Niger Delta communities along the corridors of Bodo-Bonny bridge project to resolve their differences. Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Power, Works and Housing gave the ultimatum on Thursday in Abuja at a meeting with representatives of communities along the corridor of the project and officials of Julius Berger PLC, the contractor. He said the meeting was as a result of reported cases of attack on the facilities of the contractor that resulted to the withdrawal of its workers from the site. He said the Federal Government could not afford to tie the money meant for the contract down, adding that the contractor had been paid first installment of mobilsation fees. “It took time to beg them to release money for the project, so, if you don’t take ownership of it and put it to use, then we might as well tell them to take their money back. “We need to have a position within two weeks for MoU of compromise to be signed as

House of Representatives has ordered the federal government to stop contributions to the Lake Chad Basin Commission, LBCB, pending the investigation of the Executive Secretary, Engr. Sanusi Abdullahi, over allegations of corruption and misappropriation of funds. Its decision followed the adoption of a motion of urgent national importance on the need to address the flagrant abuse of parliament’s resolution and its constitutional powers by the executive secretary of LCBC, sponsored by Abubakar Chika Adamu (APC, Niger). Adopting the motion yesterday at plenary, the House also directed the ministry of water resources to issue a letter mandating Abdullahi to hand over to the newly appointed executive secretary since his tenure has expired. Benue on map Armed persons on Thursday night attacked villages around Anyiin, a major town in Logo Local Government Area, LGA, that serves as a base for special forces and has one of the biggest IDP camps. Residents in Anyiin reported heavy gunshots from attacks in nearby villages Thursday night. At least five persons were in critical condition from gunshot wounds in the attacks by suspected herdsmen, according to residents accounts to PREMIUM TIMES. Four residents informed PREMIUM TIMES in separate exchanges that residents in Anyiin are panicked and are on the run. Iconic Nigerian painting “Tutu” to be sold for N100 million In the UK

An iconic Nigerian painting that’s been missing for decades has been discovered in a north London flat. The discovery of Ben Enwonwu’s 1974 masterpiece of the Ife princess Adetutu Ademiluyi, known as Tutu, has been touted as the “most significant discovery in contemporary African art in over 50 years”, Nigerian novelist Ben Okri told the Guardian. The image of the painting became a symbol of national reconciliation in the country, where people hang posters of it on the walls of their homes.  It is not known how the piece came to be in north London, and the family who has it in their possession requested anonymity. However, it will be sold at Bonhams in London later this month and is expected to go for over £200,000. Giles Peppiatt, director of modern African art at the auction house, made the discovery when he went round to the house.

Mohammad Oroji, former FCT Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), says Nigerians should stop politicising farmers/herdsmen clashes and allow government to address the issue properly. He also warned that movement of herdsmen should not be restricted because the Nigerian constitution did not restrain anyone from going about freely.
